INCLUSION OF COMMUNITIES INTO ST LIST
1108. DR. THOKCHOM MEINYA:SHRI ARJUN LAL MEENA:SHRI VIRENDER KASHYAP:SHRI CHANDU LAL SAHU: Will the Minister of TRIBAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Union Government has received proposals from various State Governments particularly Chhattisgarh to include more communities in the Scheduled Tribe list and also to include ‘Haati Community’ of Himachal Pradesh;
(b) if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise during each of the last three years and the current year;
(c) whether the Union Government has received certain demands from various State Governments including the State Government of Rajasthan for declaration of Areas/Regions as Tribal Region or to extend the Scheduled Areas/Regions; and
(d) if so, the details thereof along with the action taken by the Government thereon?
ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF TRIBAL AFFAIRS (SHRI MANSUKHBHAI DHANJIBHAI VASAVA)
(a) & (b): A statement indicating State/UT wise proposals for inclusion of various communities in list of Scheduled Tribes last three years in annexed. The proposal for inclusion of “Hatti” community in list of Scheduled Tribes of Himachal Pradesh State was received from the Government of Himachal Pradesh in the year 2005.
(c) & (d): The Governments of Himachal Pradesh, Kerala and Rajasthan had submitted proposals for extension/declaration of Scheduled Areas in the respective States. The proposals have been examined.
